Looking at a 377 Peterbilt, it has a Detroit 11.1 Series 60. Rockwell RMX9 speed trans and 4.10 gears. Tires are 11R22.5's BF Goodrich Dr444's 497 Radius. Hows this setup going to work on lite loads? Most times under 8000 lbs in the box. Trailer will be filled full, but just not any weight to the loads.
The Old truck is tight as can be and inside is cleaner then most 5 year old trucks. It has 860,000 miles on it. New brakes all around and will have to have new tires. Wondering if I would be better off to change tire size and let that change the gear ratio some? Its low geared and if I have to change tires anyways. Why not work on that gearing while doing it?
Also the engine does not have a Jake Brake on it. How hard is it to add to the 11.1s?
Truck is being sold at a bargin is the reason I'm looking at it to start with.

I have a 93 fld w/ the same engine & trans but my tires are 24.5s....i was told the engine was over hauled 200k before & been rolling it w/ a few loads under it....mines needs an oil change, fuel filter change & my grounds need to be checked & remounted. But last nite I hooked her to a 28klb load, she rolled but sputtered acceleration in 7 or 8th...around 35-55mph. I think it jus needs a few things cleaned, replaced or checked. But I got my first rig!

No problem with the gears if you drive about sixty only eight thousand in the box don't think you need a Jake brake
