*Not an expert*......-Im 18, just got my Class A CDL in March and recently purchased a 1994 Mack RD Roll Off from Texas with only 26k miles on it. Put about 6k on it so far and it just crossed 32k now. Truck is mint, practially brand new still. Engine is still colored. Frame is still painted. No leaks. Interior is all intact. AC works ice cold (and Im in South FL in the summer)......All in all amazing truck. Turns like ####, but thats expected on a truck like this haha. Moral of my question is; since this truck is still practically brand new, is there anything anyone would recommend to do to the truck early in its life to prevent common issues in its future. Id be happy to provide pics if anyone has any questions. Thanks in advance
Just regular maintenance. 12-15k oil change and give it a few pumps of grease every weekend or every other weekend. You really don't have to worry about rust too much down there that's a good thing. It'll run forever. You got a very solid truck. We run a 93 and 99 CH. Change the fuel filters when you do the oil change Put some pics up
That looks really clean. What's the HP? Does it have an Eaton or Mack trans? Mack rears? I'll take a guess. Is it a 300 or a 350?
Its 350…..and yep, straight Mack Trans. 8 speed manual with a high and low for 1st, 2nd, and Reverse. Tricky shifting but 1200rpms seem to be where it likes to drop into the next gear. Tough to figure out but once you get the hang of it its like butter.
Probably says lo to the bottom left then 1st through 8th? That's a Mack 9 speed then. wind it out to 1800 and it falls right in around 1200, they shift pretty slow but once you get used to it it's really nice.
