    i have an issue with my volt guage. it will only read 12.5 to 13 when you turn on the lights its drops but nothing goes dim or out. truck starts every time with no problems what is wrong.

    Maybe a battery going bad. Load test them.

    Then do a voltage test on the alternator. See what the output is.

    It also might be the voltage Guage in the truck is going bad.

    could be a ground wire, check where the wire is crimped at the alt. a cheap h.f. volt meter can be used to test volts everywhere.

    Could be bad gauge or resistance to gauge. Like heavyhauler said check voltage at the batteries and alternator. @Heavyd can probably tell you the spec. I don't like more than .5 volt between the two.

    Seen that issue on off highway equipment a few times. In my experience it was typically a loose ground cable.

    Check all your cab powers and grounds. Something is dirty/loose somewhere.
