Real pneumatic operators ignore that 7psi max ####. Last 3 places I went to were like 6psi and 8psi. I’m in and out in 45 minutes. There’s one place that even has an alarm for being over 6psi. I walk over and shut it off, then blow off at between 12-15. Then I have to track the guy down on the yard to get my ticket because he’s not expecting me for another hour and a half. Take my #### and leave. Worst case scenario, they call dispatch and tell them I’m not allowed back. Which was my original goal, cuz I don’t need that 6psi #### in my life.
1st Day.... Doh!

There is talk this account will be renegotiated. They did with another account. They waste a bunch of our time. Waiting an hour on a test. Seems it is needed. That was bad. But then the did renegotiate it. Now it's good money for the driver.RedRover, easytopleez33, Farmerbob1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well... it seems I have arrived. I start driving 'my' truck tomorrow. All alone, doing a load that's 135 miles from the terminal. Started doing one today with help. But then, confident I could do it. He left. I did fine all alone. Then picked up another across town transfer from our other mill.
So I'm about to move out of training mode. I think the boss wants to do that with a decent run.
Boss let me know about the plans. Then let me off work early. Tomorrow's run starts early. So I'm slouching....sitting here in my hotel room. Watching Werner train in their lot.
Doh!... Boss just called. Mechanic had the truck on a shakedown cruise to Cheyenne today. Got a couple things he needs to get straightened out on the truck. So I won't be driving 'my' truck tomorrow. But soon!Last edited: Jan 23, 2018

I truly do feel fortunate with this job.
BTW: Today? I started at 4:30am. Finished at 1pm. That's a short day.
Tomorrow I'm starting at 3:30am.SingingWolf and TravR1 Thank this. -
Well.... This is it. Got the keys for my truck right here with me. Off hourly pay starting tomorrow. That means training is over.
Got a customer to be at; 5am tomorrow morning. Then, sometime tomorrow, heading to Salt Lake.
This is it. Kinda anticlimactic. After all these months of studying everything about the job. (while on unemployment) The school, training and all. Now...
Do like my truck. Volvo's are nice. Even though it's not new at all. I like it. Glad I'm doing out and back. I can't stuff everything I brought with me in that truck. Will have to work it out. Keep stuff in my car. Then....well?....lets see how It works out.SingingWolf, Farmerbob1, Finfn1372 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dang. I went back to the first post. 2 weeks total? Great you’re done already! Be safe. I start class in 2 weeks.

I was very disappointed in my CDL school. All they did was set me up to obtain my CDL. That is all. Getting basics from that school was a joke. They actually fought me in my trying to understand or do extra. In the end, the school did rate me in Basic Control skills at 100%.
I don't blame the school. I do blame society where I live. I also blame the business attitude where I live. It is awful!
I have basics from driving Class B for 7 years. That was a Kenworth T370, licensed at 50K pounds, 13 speed transmission. That is also 7 winters, ice, and all.
Quickly picking up on basics with a tractor trailer. Biggest problem I've had is obtaining that orientation of that long trailer behind me. Beginning to. I'm now imagining it as driving a Dragon with a long tail. That tail does damage if it swipes anything.
I would like to say. I have a motel room with a view of Werner's lot. Watching their training. I wished I had training like this. Watching them doing 90 degree back in's. Things like that.Last edited: Jan 25, 2018

I didn’t go with non company sponsored training and I’m glad for that. Every time we would be at DPS for testing, we would watch them bomb the pretrip except for maybe one person, then they’d take out all the cones backing. I went there twice a week to watch the testing and run the road test course. Not one person outside of a mega carrier did I see get their cdl. Whatever people say about them, they are very good at having people leave with their cdl.
