2.5 years off

    I was in almost the same boat. Left driving May 2020 to run our family business. Totally clean record and 10 years of experience. I had to have a home daily job and did not want to do food service work. (Yes I was extremely picky which didn’t help my job search) I had a really hard time finding a job. I’m sure it has to do with insurance or something but it seems like companies would rather have a 1 year guy that has current experience than an old guy that’s been out of the truck a while. Anyway, I got a job, not the greatest, but suits my needs. Keep looking. There are jobs out there but it’s not 2021-22 anymore and I don’t think companies are needing drivers that bad.

    Agree -- trucking is pretty much in a recession right now -- & thus carriers (generally speaking) are getting more picky about who they bring on-board.
