I don't care how weed will effect driving.
It is illegal, and there is no way to test for what the level is in the body to know if the driver is impaired at that time.
SO it will never be legal for drivers of commercial trucks. Even if it became legal to buy it and smoke it for the rest of the population.
It will never be legal for drivers.
At this point alcohol still is legal. But how many OTR drivers drink while on the road? One out of 15?
I know it is not many. No time, and we all know it is not a good thing to do.

i know more then you would ever imagine.......
if you took the time to READ my posting, you would have seen these (" ") known as quotation marks......for emphasis purposes only.
do not try to advocate for smoking dope.... -
I would much rather have a drivers on My Roads smoking pot than drinking They can BOTH stay the HE## off the roads I use.
Nothing like seeing 3 dead kids in whats left of a TRANS AM and the POT HEAD driver ( self admitted being STONED ) who survived trying to explain his RH turn onto a road that did not exsist at 80 MPH.Pumpkin Oval Head and Injun Thank this. -

... ....wait, your school helped you get your permit? I just re-read that...lol.GREEN-MACHINE said: ↑so i've been in class for 8 days ( 160 course) last week we jammed for the permit test ( i passed ) and we all had to get our D.O.T. health cards.
well yesterday after lunch the instructor told 2 students to go see the adminerstrador , and then they where gone, seems they had pot in the drug test.
real bummer these where nice family guy's.Click to expand...
Lord I wish they helped me get mine....I had to get all the tests done within a week before starting on my own, and I am getting every endorsement available. -
Pumpkin Oval Head said: ↑Jbrake1960 said: ↑he could have smoked some weeks ago -- And I am sure he was not driving at that time either....
im sure there are many drivers on the road that dont follow the 4 hour rule when it comes to alcohol -- And I am sure you know this from personal experience...
lot of clueless posters here -- And I am sure you are evidence of that....
Let's face it....most drivers on the road do not want to have other drivers on the road that are impaired, whether it be by illegal drugs, or alcohol, or any other means....so it does not matter what you say, most drivers will disagree with you....so what if pot was not illegal 20 years-times change and our knowledge changes.....as ChromeDome said, POT WILL NEVER BE LEGAL FOR CDL DRIVERS.....OR FOR ANY OTHER SAFETY SENSITIVE JOB....
Now why do you suppose SAFETY SENSITIVE IS SO #### IMPORTANT???
Well, it is time for me to go have a couple of beers and get out on the road, as I am just sure I am not impaired after having just 2 beers....oh man, I really need to zone out for the next 1,000 miles.....I have not had a beer for over a week and I really need to relax while I am driving....I just can't even get on the road today without having a couple of beers...
I will be on I - 80 westbound to Colorado....would you be able to meet me somewhere in Nebraska, and share a couple of your joints with me??? I am willing to take the risk of losing my CDL and it would be interesting to crash through the median and spend a couple days in the hospital....and I could go to the funeral of the family in the minivan that I ran over....no biggie....just another day driving

i've seriously got no problem with what people do on their own time. wanna do a few lines of coke? whats it matter. if you show up sober for work and dont f things up it shouldnt make a difference. just because someone likes to use drugs doesnt mean they dont have self control. someone who turns into a alcoholic or drug addict has far more problems then the substance's. having grown up in an alcoholic house and lost my dad at a very early age as a result from his drinking, the drugs and alcohol are just a small part of the equation.Panhandle flash said: ↑Only problem with that is, most people who test positive for weed will test positive for other things. Thats just speaking from personal experience and all the other druggies I knew. Know that I just didn't do weed alone. JMHO
And since we're talking about that, a pox on all the jack ##### that says weed is a gateway drug. They are so full of it!!! My gate way was alcohol.Click to expand... -
i dont take them when i'm working at all. the doctors told me dont drive while i'm on them, dont operate any machinery. i know full well how they affect me, i know i can operate a truck on a vicodin or two just fine, but i wouldnt do it. personally if i am in so much pain that i need a vicodin or anything stronger just to get threw the day i wouldnt go to work anyway. but if i can take say a 800mg ib prufen and tough it out till i get home, then i'll do that and take the opiates when i'm home so i can relax fully in my house.dibstr said: ↑It doesn't quite work that way. With prescription medications (Your Vicodin) the prescribing physician must inform you that it will not affect your ability to safely operate a CMV (Preferably in writing). Otherwise the warnings on the label rules. Regardless of whether the medication is prescription or not you should not drive until you know how the medication affects you (and/or have a physician inform you) and if you do, you can be held accountable.Click to expand...

yeah of course a prehire, but in massachusetts there was a HUGE thing with the fire fighters unions. the state was saying they should be random drug tested, the unions said "no way, not unless you give us a raise" and the last i heard was they were getting a 18% pay increase and it was going to be retroactive because when this debate originally started it went into arbitration. that is absolutely ridiculous. i'm not sure about the law enforcement drug testing but i would bet money it's the same. no random test's.Injun said: ↑These threads about people failing drug tests always seem to turn into discussions over whether bud or Budweiser is worse.iMO, it's six of one and a half-dozen of the other.
And you're wrong about firefighters and law enforcement. They are subject to prehire and randoms too.Click to expand... -
i most certainly agree it's kind of like "are you really that stupid?" we had a guy at my work, somehow he didnt do a prehire drug test so he went for one, failed the test i think for weed. really nice guy, seemed like he was in a rut in life. looked like his girlfriend or wife was dropping him off in what looked like a 1989 nissan piece of crap. it could of been a piece of crap SE but i'm not surejgremlin said: ↑I don't see it as demonizing weed. I agree with you that in many cases, alcohol is probably worse.
But for better or worse, alcohol is legal and pot is not. And drug testing is nothing new. So the bottom line is you show me a real nice guy who chooses to smoke pot in the weeks before he's going to take a job interview or enroll in a program where a medical exam will be involved (i.e. trucking school), and I'll show you a guy who isn't very bright.
They might seem like nice family guys, but I don't feel sorry for them one bit. They made choices that have consequences and they have no one to blame but themselves.Click to expand...
i still felt bad for him, but theres not much you can do.
