Be careful your not the pot calling the kettle black. If you have been driving for 33 years you know what I mean.

I was told that DOT here in VA only test for sugar in the urine and high blood pressure and various other health issues depending upon age.

I don't think they test for drugs, your company will do that with another doctor I believe. Maybe they had health issues that would have prevented them in the eyes of DOT from safely operating a truck.

all schools fall under DOT regulations/rules for drug testing.

    Pre-employment

    Random

    post accident

when signing up for a school, one is "pre-employment"....at ANY TIME, ANY student can be given a random.....what i find hard to believe is that (from what i have read) they either didn't do a pre-employment, or THEY did, then "decided" to use dope thinking they were "in the clear"....which where they were caught, at a RANDOM while taking the DOT physical.....

also if it WAS a dismissal due to failing a drug screening, the instructors WILL NOT hide this information. it serves as a WARNING, that one WILL BE kicked out of school. if it was for "personal issues" like money, family, that would be kept quiet.

    Cruz36 Thanks this.

And more people smoke than drink...All this tells me is the alcohol lobby is better funded...Using stats for cigs and alcohol, what rational reason could they have for keeping them legal other than having bought and paid for politicians in their pockets?...

LMAO! I think your lobbying right now for weed LOL! I don't really sweat it. I haven't smoked weed for more years than I care to remember and I stopped drinking a year ago although I was not like an alcoholic. I only drank at cook outs and such or at home on like a Saturday or something and never more than a few beers and a couple shots of whisky. I don't miss it at all.

I'm not lobbying for either as I don't do either...I'm just a realist...I understand one is 'legal' and one isn't, that doesn't change the facts that one is safer than the other by a margin so wide it can't be measured...Alcohol AND cigarettes would be made illegal if I had my druthers as they both kill and ruin lives on a daily basis...If they can find REAL medicinal uses for marijuana(not "I have a headache" and get a license as in CO and other places) I'm all for it, but as far as making it legal, I won't join that battle...Being straight is what I vote for...

you could always become a o/o. They ususally don't have to worry about being fired or not getting hired due to lack of discipline. However when I'm with my kids that's all I need for a high or to feel better.

Obviously one could not be allowed to drive while high; however, I don't believe that weed is worse than alcohol either so I'm with you on that.
