If they could prescribe it to the skinny little cancer victims who are undergoing chemo and have no desire to eat then I would say okay. Perhaps they would be able to eat so they could rebuild their strength to fight the cancer... But just like all the other prescription meds that are addictive.....it would be abused. I led a sheltered life and have never had the desire nor the exposure to pot. I intend to keep it that way.

My late brother-in-law was prescribed marijuana in tablet form during his chemo-therapy. It controlled his nausea. It was not abused. My sister may have joked about him being high. His use of tablet marijuana was not like the news today about the licensed dealers selling smoking marijuana.

Without seeing the actual study(s) it's relatively difficult to respond. Was this a single study or a cherry picking of several studies?
Again without seeing the study(s), and not knowing the methodology used or what facts are included (Auto accidents etc), but knowing several facts makes refutation somewhat difficult but not totally impossible. The most damning fact is that there is no LD-50 for marijuana, so cause of death is not normally attributable to it, so related deaths fly under the radar.

There was a study done once that proved oxidized hydrogen waas deadly because 90% of people who breathed large amounts of it died within five minutes.
We gonna ban that too? -
How does marijuana affect driving ability?
Driving experiments show that marijuana affects a wide range of skills needed for safe driving -- thinking and reflexes are slowed, making it hard for drivers to respond to sudden, unexpected events. Also, a driver's ability to "track" (stay in lane) through curves, to brake quickly, and to maintain speed and the proper distance between cars is affected. Research shows that these skills are impaired for at least 4-6 hours after smoking a single marijuana cigarette, long after the "high" is gone. If a person drinks alcohol, along with using marijuana, the risk of an accident greatly increases. Marijuana presents a definite danger on the road.

BTW, when appeals to to an unknown, un-sourced study to base an argument or point of view it is known as the logical fallacy of False Attribute.

DB writes: Well the other day I met Cheech and Chong. Walk up to a truck that was speeding and tailgating. While speaking to the driver, I caught a "whiff" of some wacky weed. I get back to the car and take a whiff of the driver's log book and dang, it was a strong smell of weed. Pull all three out and find a good size baggie full, blunts and a bunch of other paraphernalia. They were surprised I could smell their weed, because they hadn't smoked any for at least 8 hours.
(My comment): BUT THEY COULD DRIVE JUST FINE, RIGHT??? WOW, GLAD THESE GUYS HAD NOT BEEN DRINKING FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS, THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN SPEEDING OR TAILGATING WHILE OWI....
OMD, I think you need to understand that most of the folks on this website have not smoked marijuana and are not going to go and do so just to see how impaired they are whilst doing so. You are so far off the chart that we can't even see you!!!
We all know the law, and the law says if you test positive for any sheet, you lose your cdl......your posting all the positive attributes of weed, that you know of while being under the influence of weed, is not going to convince anyone on this site of anything.
It is simply a matter of a SAFETY SENSITIVE JOB DRIVING A CMV THAT YOU NOT BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES....period.
Why don't you get back to us when you get your CDL, as by then you may have more brain cells firing than you have now.
DB comments continue: The full moon has brought all kinds out. Had another driver, I should say a wanna be driver, that only had a learner's permit for Class A. No one else in the truck with him. After I place him out of service, he gives it a few hours, then tries again. He was shocked when pulled up beside him and stopped him. On the way to the jail he asked "is this going to be on that CSA thing." I told him, "No I don't think you have to worry with CSA, you won't get your CDL now." -
