From what I understand, they allow up to a maximum of 2 dui’s lifetime. And if I read correctly none can be within 7 years.
Seems like you’d qualify.Chinatown Thanks this. -

Hiring individuals want to fill the seat and forget about it; they want it to stay filled.
When there are 2 outstanding applications; one that has longevity driving VRS someone that already looked to do something else could be a factor.
When the number of applications exceeds the seats many hairs may be split to decide who is hired.
I worked a good bit for family -or- individual owners who added another level of input to the process, good and bad.
Somewhere out there is a company that will look at the application and send you on a road test and ignore the recent time not driving.
It also depends on possibly 'bending' the insurance company guidelines a bit as they are the real problem.
Most want "23 with 2 years current experience with like equipment and some are so banal to 'like' trailer type!
I can't recall any guys that didn't work out in that instance too. -
Western Express just asked if I could start on 2/25. They were curious about why I got termed from Amazon. Told them the truth and emphasized that I have 2 references from my 4 years there who will attest to my work ethic and I never had a single writeup or disciplinary action or a single safety incident.
Wish me luck, I've heard horror stories about them but I guess I have to start somewhere...Maybe I can make it until my DUIs are 10 years old and then I'll have over a year of OTR experience. Didn't hear from Waste Management. I think a couple of other carriers are actually considering me but I don't want to pass up what might be my only foot in the door for a maybe.FullMetalJacket, UturnGirl, 7speed and 1 other person Thank this. -
That's great news. Now your career is back on track. Ignore the bad press on Western Express, because this is about you. This is your stepping stone to a great career.
Are you going flatbed or dry van? Not important, just curious.Last edited: Feb 12, 2025
