Unfortunately, the "get 'er done" used to be by professional drivers who know what they were doing, in most cases. Nowadays, it's more rookie drivers who don't know what they are doing, or more likely being pushed to do it by companies who don't care what you do, but will can you if you get caught doing it the wrong way.

I work for Swift, and being caught doing a U-Turn is automatic termination too. Oddly enough so is lane change, I had a lane change accident and they didnt fire me, got really lucky my terminal manager helped me out on that one. Stupid 4 wheeler hanging out under my passenger side steer when I had my Volvo, I could never see what was there, I hated that truck. And it was also super foggy, luckily we were only doing 20mph or so, no one was hurt. Was about 2 months after I was out of the mentors truck, got complacent with the mirrors. Now I check, double check, then move. Should always be done but, thats what happens when you're new and think you have it all worked out :)

But I have done numerous U Turns since, just have to be very careful

Yeah, it WAS showing. I'll admit that. Was over a year ago. Training, no matter through who, can only prepare you for so much, the rest falls on the driver.

To clarify the U-Turn comment, I can count them all on one hand and remember each of them. One of them was to get out of a gas station/truck stop off 95 south of Richmond, They have a Petro on one side, and a little ways down is a Shell or something, Well I stopped at the Shell since I missed the turn for the Petro, they have odd medians all the way down that stupid road. There was no left turn permitted so you had to drive down a few hundred feet and make a u-turn to get back on 95.

Feel the need to defend myself, Im by no means an unsafe driver, it just so happens I work for a large company that people like GasHauler like to pick on. Hell I like to pick on them! :)

I don't need to pick on them, they do just fine on their own. Training falls just as much on the company as the driver if not more.
