OK, off topic, but was in El Paso a few weeks ago, at the Swift Terminal there. Swift owns TransMex truck line, which runs (convoys of) trucks into Mexico. And I'm not kidding about convoys, you'll have these 5 or 6 or 7 Mexican cowboys, they convoy up to run over the border.

Ok. Nothing to see here, move along.

Did you already call them about it? If not, don’t. Finish the next 3 months and don’t say ####. Find another job that will take the year experience and once they have approved you with the one preventable, park the truck at your home terminal and take your permit book and keys into the dispatch window and drop there on the desk. Tell them you quit. Simple as that. You’d be surprised how easy it will be to slide that one by them at a mega unless you have a completely brand new truck.

If you’re at Swift, I wouldn’t worry about it. You get 3 before they fire you. Ask me how I know.

They hit me with 2, one of them very serious though not actually my fault. None the less, I wasn’t fired and I quit on my own months later. I have had 2 jobs since. Several companies did say no however.

Also pro tip: if driving forward you should be looking at the mirror in the direction the wheel is turned. When backing, it’s the opposite. Look toward the direction the trailer is tracking. Always.

It's not that big of a deal. They may possibly take the damages out of your check. They will fire you if you get too expensively clumsy on your job. These little boo boos, to them, can be a precursor to something worse. Don't take any chances if you're unsure.
