You could probably finance the $1100 not an option I would want to do but it is an option and lots of companies will rein burst you for school as well.

Unfortunatley All-State will not finance the 1100...already asked. They will of course finance the 6500. I can do the 1100 if need be, just will be eating a lot of generic brand mac and cheese and ramen noodles for a while, but I wouldnt owe anyone anything.

Didn't realize or even think to look and see if companies offered reimbursement. I don't even know who I should be looking at driving for yet....i will have to add this to the list of qualifications when I go to choose companies to apply to. Getting repaid that 1100 would be nice, even if its over the long term.

I asked in my other thread, so i will ask here also. Since I need to have some pre hires (i think that what everyone calls them, you know conditional employment offers) line up, what companies should I be looking at? any advice is awesome, keep it coming, and thank you for everything so far and thank you in advance.

Started the Process of enrolling for the 4 week program beginning Oct. 1

Have to get Physical done, MVR pulled, And pre enrollment online intro course thing done since it is an accelerated program.

The only thing that can hold me up is my WIA grant not getting issued, but since I was approved and today it was confirmed and what not, I should be ready to rock'n'roll OCT 1

I thought long and hard about the longer program, but with the advice ya'll gave me, coupled with the advice of some of the pm's i got, and the fact i did not want to take out a 6500 buck loan.....

One peice of advice i got that weighed more than others, was "Get it done ASAP, try to get out on the road by mid november and knock out the winter driving while all your training is fresh and before you form any bad habits!"

Not sure how sound of advice that was, but it makes sense to me!

any ideas who I should be seeking a pre-hire with.......i have no clue, i was thinking of taking the shotgun approach, applying anywhere and everywhere I can and seeing what hits

I have to have at least one before I start school....don't know why....just some requirement i guess

Just from reading this forum a few training companies stick out more than others. Schneider is one of them and roehl and a few others I can't think of right now. I would go here and read till your brain hurts about companies http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/motor-carrier-questions-the-inside-scoop/.

I read good and some bad things about TMC as well I'm sure some more people will be able to add to the list my brain isn't working to well at the moment LOL all these companies have different things to offer so you need to know what your looking to get out of this job so you can make or try and make the best decision you can. Don't forget this will be a lifestyle change as well man.

I don't have much of a life now, so any change is proably going to be a good one lol. No wife (anymore), kids are in college, no pets (just a goldfish) no job, a rundown 150cc scooter and a beat up old 94 firebird (currently for sale $750 obo)....so yeah, i could use a little change and direction....LOL

Just talked to Careerlink office, My WIA grant is temporarily held up....I need to get 3 pre-hires for them. plus the one for All State...so thats still a total of three.

Doesnt matter who they are from, i guess they need them to make sure i am gonna get a job out of this.

I have begun applying to just about any company that hires drivers in my area that are CDL Grads whether or not I actually want to work for them.

How long does it usually take to get a pre hire from the company once you apply? is it days, weeks?

I spent the evening "shotgunning" applications to any company that hires inexperienced drivers.

Some of them I would never consider driving for, others I would really consider driving for, and a few others i dont know too much about either they dont have much posted on their website, or i just saw hiring student drivers and clicked on the apply now button.

Some of the apps, Roehl, TMC, Gordon were really thorough and long, others like Werner(dont really want to drive for them), Navajo, and BTC were super short and kind of a joke

We'll see what happens, I am sure my email and phone will blow up tomorrow from recruiters calling me.
Gonna have to grab a notebook and a good pen so i can keep notes on all of them.
