There has been some old two stroke engines that there were times I have had to eliminate temper a couple of times. What better than to stick a dispatcher in the eye when I tell him your crappy load plan just burned up along with the engine.
The one way I know how to burn out a engine is to redline it and then seek a way (This is way before computers...) to get it past that redline.
It would not do it. Any appreciable damage. (There were two exceptions and that was not out of anger, just a grotesque load weight.

I had one in a medium duty truck years ago. It did okay as long as you drove it like you hated it lol.
OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
I am sure you are right, I was never around either a lot, I did drive a water truck a little that had a 6V53, but that was it
What did they call the v 12 gas jimmys? I only ever seen a couple of them used for irrigation engines in Kansas. They had a distributer cap that was as big around as a 5 gallon bucket. lol
What is the secret on jakes, inquiring minds want to know. lolOLDSKOOLERnWV and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Seen a Detroit run in reverse. Awesomeness.
Rideandrepair, OLDSKOOLERnWV and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Around dump trucks, that was a pretty common sight, even had a guy jump out and leave his truck running with the bed half up, he came ask me why his bed would not go up or down, he had forgot to unlatch the tail gate. I looked over and oil was blowing out of the air can, so I ask him if it had a lot of reverse gears, he said that is another thing. lolokiedokie, OLDSKOOLERnWV and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

The V12 gasoline Jimmy was a 702 cubic inch engine. Actually had 4 heads, 4 exhaust manifolds, 2 carburetors, and 2 distributors. My tax lady has her dads old Cabover GMC with the original V12 in it still. I have one of the V6’s setting in my shop, built the last year for them 1974. It’s 432 cubes in a 6 cylinder. Valve covers remind you of a W block Chevrolet valve cover.
53 series Jakes are “HIGH RENT”!!!! They are the holy grail of 2 stroke Jakes lol!!!FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
You know a lot of 2 strokes came in Left & Right hand rotation right? Depending on the application.okiedokie and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

I drove 4 jimmies. Owner loved them back when I drove for him. 6-71, 8V71(318), 12V71 and the last Detroit he bought was a 8V92 and a BC 1 Cummins. I had my choice on the last 2. I went with the 400.

Yep, a lot of twins in boats had them and some rear engine busses had a reverse rotation engine. Even cat has some reverse rotation boat engines. I worked on a bus that a music band had, they changed the starter, then could not figure out what was wrong. lol
The V 12's I looked at, did have 4 heads and manifolds, but just one distributor, I looked it over pretty good.
My logging boss still uses an old pete some that has the old buzzin dozen.
My first real truckin job was in a brand new gimmy pulling a 50 ton lowboy with one of them power house 318 jimmys. lol It did the job, I would hate to go back that direction though. lolOLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that the 2 strokes needed a single viscocity oil, does anybody know if that is right or not. I know I an delo in the 318 I owned for a couple of years, but I don't remember what weight.
OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.
