The above is indeed solid advice.

The Rand McNally Trucker version Atlas may seem too "old school" for some--but because of the incredible relevant & handy info, it can give a driver some serious advantages. I still use mine--even with hauling fuel!!!

One counterpoint: Time out with a trainer at Schneider is pretty skimpy, compared to other "starter" carriers. :(

It’s seriously underrated as a skill to use the trucker atlas I found if I self routed myself I paid more attention rather than waiting till a gps told me to randomly turn left in 200 ft.. I could add calling shippers if running ahead and seeing if the can take delivery early and also asking what’s the best way to get there.. a lot of the old school rules just work… and sweet I’m hauling fuel locally too… I know the city like the back of my hand, my problem now is I’ll take off and get on the highway and completely forget what station I’m going too haha… I often reroute myself by thinking about what station I would/feel I should be going to based on the terminal I loaded at lol loaded at marathon I’m on 75…I gotta be going to X haha
