I ain't no super--trucker, I say it as I have seen it, or see it. I will not sugar-coat things. too many times his saying that he can be gone for a long time, has been said before, and they all go home crying how terrible the road is and the lifestyle.
Oh, will he be back to report a bad company.?

Well, he was unable to search and find the Melton forum (148 threads OP!) for many answers to his questions... Meh, I still believe in him. He'll do ok.

So you want to skateboard...that actually changes things. The odds of you sticking it out increases drastically. I don't work for Melton, but their trucks look decent, and it looks like they keep their driver's securement up to par. Typical entry level flatbed company (not a bad company, but it what you make it). With a decent truck and a decent pay, you should be able to make some money. Just remember not to drink the KoolAid and think that they're the end all and be all of trucking and their drivers occupy a special place in the kingdom of heaven. It's a job. Be good at your job, but your job isn't your life.
I would suggest that even though you have no responsibility that you go home once a month. Go see your mom. Take mom out to lunch. Go to a watering hole, have an adult beverage and flirt with a cute waitress. Don't be lewd to women, but if she offers some strange, take it and warn her of your return. Go fishing. Go on a freakin week long vacation once a year.
I understand what Mr Anthony means in his posts. I understand your game plan. And while dispatchers would love a driver who never requests to go to the house, I don't think it's a good thing for a desk jockey to know. And I think it's a mistake that drivers do not reward themselves for their work. Pay is earned, it is not a reward.Mike1155, Sneakerfix and G.Anthony Thank this. -
Good luck to you....you have a good attitude. As yogi Berra said about baseball "it is 90% mental and the other half is physical".
