Hello,
Currently in CDL school. In August 2012 I got a speeding ticket for 75 in a 65 with my Florida license while driving in Oklahoma, and I paid it. It shows up on my MVR with 3 points. Is it too late to go to traffic school or take some other action to get this off my MVR so my hiring prospects are not affected?

yes, it is too late. The correct time to address this would have been before you went 75 in a 65...

Too late. If that is your only violation its not so bad. I now take care of every ticket even if its 3mph over, never allow anything on my record again.
jbatmick and wilburleft Thank this. -
Way too late. Once you paid the ticket, it's a done deal. If that is the only thing on your MVR, you're in good shape. Don't worry about it.

You're fortunate it wasn't 15 over the posted speed limit then you would have a reckless charge. That's far worse then a normal speeding ticket.I think you'll be alright.

I think it is too late. Sometimes cases are re-opened and reviewed. How much money do you want to spend? It is election season. How about a large campaign donation".
Just joking.
Call the dmv in Florida. I really think its too late. Usually once you pay the ticket any negotiating on your behalf is over.wilburleft Thanks this. -
Thanks for all the replies.
I got a 62 in a 40 in December 2009, so it will be over 5 years old when I'm ready to hire on with a company. But I hear that companies only check back 3 years.
I drive the speed limit now, and constantly scan for speed limit signs since the limits can change frequently within short distances on the same road.pattyj Thanks this. -
You're good to go.True some look back 3 yrs but the better companies go back 5 yrs or longer. One company I applied with said they go 7 yrs but those companies are the best so can't blame them.

Florida law clearly states on their website 'ONCE THE POINTS ARE ON YOUR LICENSE,THEY CANNOT BE REMOVED". One is not too bad, and it is 2 years old. Just remember to get no more, and contest every ticket in court. Worth the $$ to fight them.
wilburleft Thanks this. -
From an insurance standpoint, no its not to late. A safe driving course will help that. As far as making it go away all together, yes it is to late. You need to hand them over to your traffic ticket attorney as soon as you get them.
wilburleft Thanks this.
