i don't think this answer is 100% true. I got a speeding ticket in my car in Broward County Fl, (aka New Jersey south) and I did the class, I was lead to believe that it would wipe the ticket from my license, WRONG. When I moved to another state and went to buy insurance (about 3 years later), the charge was still on my record. I explained that I had taken the class, and was told that because I held a CDL, the class didn't count. I then called Fl DMV, to confirm that the other state was correct. Fl DMV said yes, the class doesn't count if you have a CDL. I asked Fl, why did they let me take the $100+ class, and the answer was dead silence over the phone. So the speeding ticket stayed on my record for 7 years! And the $$ for the class was wasted. The actual offense was 40 in a school zone, which is normally 45, but they flip a switch and this small dinky sign comes on overhead, saying the school zone is 15 mph ( might have been 5 or 10 mph posted, kinda like a quickie speed trap). And I did call a lawyer, his advice was to pay the ticket, about $400+, and that I wouldn't, couldn't win in court. And then the cop accused me of not wearing a seat belt, which I had unbuckled (no, he didn't write me up for that) as he approached my vehicle, so I could get my wallet and my license from my back pocket. Life goes on. Live and learn.

I didnt say it would make the ticket go away. You need a lawyer to do that before hand or take a gamble and beg and plea in court yourself. The class helps reduce your insurance costs by 5 or 10 percent which would be beneficial especially for someone who might be paying a higher rate. This is regardless of whether you have a cdl or not. If I were you I would have consulted a second lawyer.
