Guys, Im sure I can search but I am literally walking out the door to go look at a 2000 379 thats gonna need some work inside and out. Question is will the newer style dash from a 2001 and up 379 fit in a 2000 379? Is it a plug and play or will it need lots of modification? The cabs I am sure are the same but I still want to check.
Thanks
2000 379 vs 2001 and up

I don't know if this will help you as I don't know either, but, as far as I know, the 379 cab was the same the entire run. I even think the 389 cab is the same. Yes, the added unibilt sleepers, yes they changed the dash and yes they mounted the mirrors on the cowl and changed the door. But the cab itself seems to be the same, so my guess is the dash will fit fine. The question is are the plugs in the loom different because of the switches? That I can't say, but I would guess they are not.

I don't want to try it. You are probably wondering if one is a emissions truck and the other might not be.
Try to examine the trucks as they sit looking for what is possible. You will be working on them quite alot. It's all part of it. -
I'm thinking the same

Direct fit , even wiring . Just need complete dash , reuse your gauges

My CAT mechanic friend told me the 2006+ Peterbilt dash isn't compatible with the older style dashes/motors. Something about the display behind the steering wheel not being compatible on the ECM's or something. But if you redo the wiring harnesses it shouldn't be an issue, but it's a lot of work.
Bean Jr. Thanks this.
