We are looking at a WS 9400, the engine is Detroit 60 series 500 HP, pre emission , 18 speed, 3.9 rears 24 inch tires..
The loads are in quite flat country and total gross is about 65,000lbs in van trailers.
What would be a reasonable MPG to expect out of this truck, engine etc in excellent working condition.
Experienced driver with light foot...
Thanks

I would expect to be around 7MPG atleast
Lonestar Thanks this. -
I average 6.6 with a 2000 430/470 Detroit/13/3.36 rears doing the speed limit pulling step deck.
-
Actually I just read those specs again you'll probably be too high rpm to get 7 MPG

Thanks for the replies, where is the sweet spot for this vintage 60 series engine...???
Some place I thought I saw 1600 , that seems a bit high???? -
Depends on terrain and load. If in light down in FL I'll set the cruise about 72 an d I'm about 1450. If I'm heavy and in some hills, I like to be 15-1600 to limit shifts.
Lonestar Thanks this.
