the E behind 460 stands for economy (fleet's speced E's) 460 and 427's are of the Econodyne family but I know of no 427E nor does my shop manual list one my says E7 427 on the engine tag I am very happy with the pulling power of mine and fuel economy, mine is a strong maybe a little stronger than a n-14 460 and get better fuel mileage 427 more reliable hard to to say since there the same motor alot of the head gasket issues are related to low liners,
