Having a similar issue, only the speedometer & odometer are not working. 2005 international 9900 Cummings engine. Could this be caused by the datalink also?

No, either speed sensor or cluster issue. When you have data link issues you will have Speedo, tach, oil pressure and volt gauge messed up too.

Heavyd, I have a 2003 9900i, drove into some rain the other day gauges instantly went nuts, warning lights flashing, hasn't cleared up since, any ideas on where to start looking under the hood?

ISX? The engine feeds the cluster by a datalink for some of the gauges and warning lights. If it shorts out due to water, that can cause this. The Datalink will run in the main harness from the right side of the firewall, around behind the engine, and up the left side around the rocker cover. Lots of corners, edges, p-clamps and stand off for the the harness to rub through and allow water intrusion. Even just water getting into the loom can be bad because the loom will cut through the insulation of the wires exposing the copper conductor of the wire. I would open up that loom as much as you can and check it for any bad spots. There will be several wires in there. Datalink wires are usually black in colour with 98+ and 98- printed on them

12.7 Detroit, Thanks, I have pretty much checked the easier stuff, Im going to open the harness today and start looking for bad wires.

That harness still runs generally the same route.

Heavyd, I have started trying to straighten this international gauge issue out again the last couple weeks as my new eld wont work with this unresolved problem , so today I was messing with the 2 splice packs in the dash and happened to disconnect the 98+ data wire and everything started working, any idea what this wire does in the big picture?

By my wire diagram, it goes to the engine. Do you still have RPM on the tach?

Yes, everything works, but I figured that wire was necessary for something.
