Trans Source says Volvo no longer offers the harness splice kit. Must purchase complete harness. I'm gonna call Advantage in Greesboro to see if they have it. This is a bummer

Just got one in Greensboro. $316.90 all in. Now the real journey begins.

i haven't been able to do much the last few days due to weather. But today I was ready to cut and splice the first wire in the harness, and found that the insulation is very brittle. I stop to regroup as I don't want to ruin what I don't need to replace. I noticed that someone had already done the RTV sealant repair. I also noticed several splices which I think is for the deteriorating wires.

I have a couple of questions, if someone can help.
    1) The original wires appear to be regular 16ga copper wire; is this correct or are they "specialty" wires?

    2) What type of butt connectors are used on the harness splice kit? They are the color of copper, but they are hard as nails. None of the crimp tools I have will work good enough to hold tight. I just bought a pair of Klien pliers. I hope they work.

    3) if I have to make more splices, is there a suitable butt connector I can use.
    Thanks for the help.

if my memory serves me right they might be solder couplers but not sure it is 16 ga wire but wouln't suggest making more splices. if you have to i ususlly use the teminal supply butt connectors they come with insulation to so it comes in handy.

Thanks for the help. Though I'm not sure I know what you mean about the "terminal supply butt connectors ". Also, can I use them instead of the solder connectors.

I got the crank sensor installed, and the injector harness spliced in, and everything went well. Time consuming, but well just the same. The truck runs as it should. Power is back, fuel mileage is up, and no fault codes. Thanks to @nasriza , @Mudman78, and @cumminskid123, This job would have been extra tough for me without your help. Thanks again.
Oh! Oil leak at injector harness pass thru stopped
