I have a 2007 int 7500 Dt570 auto only has 74000 miles it suddenly started overheating one day and it turned out to be the hose from the egr cooler to the back of the motor was leaking. shortly after that it has been overheating constantly it will stay around 200 degrees and will quickly go up and down from 200 - 220 and down and back up if your coasting it goes down and if you even touch the throttle it goes up fast. if you stop and sit it will stay at temp then jump up and down. I have changed the thermostat and the pump is flowing hard core. when I had the hose fixed they said the cooler was dry and fine and they said it was working. I have no leaks at all. I do not notice any smoke coming from the exhaust. I do loose some fluid in the overflow about once a week. nothing in the oil. I am thinking a head gasket ??? I only assume the cooler is ok that is what everyone is saying. Any ideas

I hosed through it as best as I could on both sides
    No difference

A truck mechanic friend told me to shoot the temps all around the rad when it gets hot

    Nothing out of the ordinary

I would next confirm the sensor is reading correctly, but you need to plug into that with a scanner after it has sat all night to cool down. Coolant temp sensor should be same as ambient temp at that time.
