I've lost turbo boost again. The only active code is for low coolant. My idle is around 900 now. I looked under the hood and now there is a sooty, oily mess around the intake. There is oil sprayed on the block/starter area, also on the the underside of the hood. There are a few good size drops of oil on the frame rail too. I attached a pic. The detail isn't that great. Truck was serviced by Tri State Truck Center.

Well, the problem got worse and my company got me into a new truck. Where is that coming from?
-
most likely that is soot mixed with antifreeze which would explain why sensors act up causing low or no boosttruckthatpassesyouby Thanks this.

Your EGR cooler is junk.
-
That is the best thing that could have happened to you. This is coming from someone who has a 2008 model in his "fleet". EGR coolers, turbos, doser valves, ECM re-flashes, constant regens......ugh. It still uses coolant...not sure where it goes but you can only spend so much time at the stealership. It is better now than it used to be though.
Has anyone ever heard of a DPF getting cleaned for $500?truckthatpassesyouby Thanks this. -

I've been having the same issues you described and having new injectors and turbo installed, actuator check out good (just cleaned) and DPF cleaned in Denver. The DPF is being for $500 with a 24 hour turn around time. -
I got to this thread late. But you needed a new exhaust back pressure sensor. Everything was getting backed up with that sensor not reading right. If you had 500k or more on that truck it was definitely due to go bad soon. Probably needed a new doser injector too. With those two going bad it would cause a DPF to plug up pretty quick. And OF COURSE the dealer says its a $$turbo$$.
I once was at Borg Werners US plant in NC, I got a tour and was told he could give me a turbo for like a 1/3 of what the dealership would charge. He told me it's them that mark it up so high... I know everybody is in a business and has to generate profits but I shake my head to that. I had a Holset turbo for ISX at the time so his offer didn't help me much but It taught me to always ask for a lower price when buying parts from dealershipsRoadkill27 and rank Thank this. -
Thank you Hope. I'm having this exact problem now. Only difference is I've had the EGR and DPF deleted. I'm gonna give that sensor a shot.
HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
Check out rawze egr tune up on YouTube. When you replace the exhaust back pressure sensor, clean the metal tube from the exhaust manifold.Roadkill27 and truckthatpassesyouby Thank this.
