Recently I have been experiencing issues with the electrical circuitry for my stop lights. I have replaced the brake switch and the trailer brake lights relay in the panel. Using DLB at the company's shop the brake lights come on. It had inactive code for the load sheedding relay. Are the brake lights connected to it, should I just bypass it? Any suggestions as to what might be the problem, are greatly appreciated.

All exterior lights are not part of load shedding. The brake light circuit is a "smart" circuit, meaning if there is an open or short the body controller will detect it. If you have no brake circuit faults I would double check that the correct brake light switch got installed as there are a few air switches down there. When the brake lights are not working, is it both the cab and trailer lights?

Both the tractor and trailer, the correct switch was installed, normally clossed, color coded white, the lights worked for a bit then stopped again last night. When it first happened there was an inactive code for the brake switch and another for the load shedding relay, nothing else. International looked at it replaced the switch again today and the lights worked for about 2 hrs, then again no stop lights. Everything else works.

Ok, there is a open or short in the brake switch circuit somewhere. Usually the pins inside the connector that plugs into the body controller spread over time and make poor contact. This where I would start.
kmk Thanks this. -
Thanks Heavyd, i will check the connector, any other suggestions?

The brake light switch and turn signal switch share the same electronic ground at the body controller. So if the ground side was bad the signals would also act up too. The control side of the brake switch runs from E14 of the J5 connector at the body controller, wire # A70, orange, through another connector behind the cluster, then becomes BA70 orange to the brake switch connector. You can run a new wire from body controller connector to the brake switch connector in case that wire is broken somewhere up there.
QUALITYTRUCK and kmk Thank this. -
Thanks, i guess the ground side is working since there are no issues with the turn signals, i will try to run a new wire from the bc to the switch. It is a really weird issue.
