I thought the maxxfarce engines were old cat blocks that Navistar used to make their hunk of ####?

no engine pic is a bit odd from them . Don't want no maxforce.
I was just told to stay away from prostar as they are money pits as I was looking at another one 2011with isx and I assume def . but cant find much for reviews on 11 prostars .

I completely fail to see any resemblance to either the C12 or ACERT C13. My impression was that the MF13 was a Euro diesel of some extraction (DAF, MAN, or something like that) with US-spec EGR and DPF hardware bodged on.

I believe your referring to the MX 13 which is a paccar. Not even close to the maxxforce 13.

Cat was available in prostars for a short time. I believe miller transporters ran them in theirs.

Regardless if it is an early Maxxforce or cat motor with a dpf attached to it you should not even consider it. The dpf is visible from the passenger side view. I had one. I am surprised this one made it to 600k. With my estimations, that would take about 20 years to do, seeing as they only accomplish about 30k trouble free miles per year and the rest of the time in the shop. It was so bad cat got sued and lost. The early Maxxforce also almost did International in. I think it cost them about $1billion in warranty claims and buy backs from large customers when they demanded a product that worked and they could not produce so it cost them huge. There is a reason any truck with either of these engines is listed for a ridiculously low price. I had one of these engines and it almost bankrupted me. I won't be buying anything the yellow motor company produces if they get back into the on-highway market.

The C15 was a SDP prefix....C13 was LEE...these were the last model of CAT on-highway engines that had the dpf. Groendyke tanker outfit had some IH's with these engines. As others have said though, stay away either way unless you like spending time in shops from sea to shining sea.

Didn't CAT make the engine block for the Maxxforce?

I believe CAT was supplying the block for a 15 liter Maxxforce, but not sure that ever made it to market.
