Hahah, itll be alright man all negatives have a positive. It sucks but with the 08s and up its expected to not last a million miles. Heck my 08 blew up at 550k sadly but if this happen today god firbid id drive it down the street and watch it burn slowly because of a electrical fire.

we had a 08 d13... had a bad injector cup.... dealer had to pull the head to get it out (tyler, tx).... week later we were in the shop again (Portland, or) had to have the overhead done again...... 2 weeks later we were in the shop again (Nashville, tn.) to have the head REPLACED.....! when the 1st shop pulled the head they didn't turk the head right.... a week after that we were in the shop (elpaso, tx.) to get all 6 injectors and cups replaced because Nashville didn't seat them right....

1st finding a backyard mechanic that can do a inframe on a d13 is going to be hard.... Volvo's need special tools.... I have a local shop that can work on a Volvo BUT nothing major.... inframe labor at the evensville dealer is 45 hr's @ $89 = $4005...... parts for a inframe rage from $5,000 (good)$8,000 (better) and $12,00 (best) rod's, main's, line's, pistons, HEAD cam, turbo, cups injestors with a 350k is around $12,000.... I have a est. for my D12 is $17,700 with extras

Maybe maybe not. After a few months it will be harder to prove. Someone with more knowledge such as Nazria would know more. Sometimes it just happens. Btw the last post was in 2016.

On D 13 engine we saw often valve recession problem specificaly on exhaust valves cylinder 5 and 6 on cam side with a high millage engine. The valve and the valve seat start to wear and the valve come too thin and then easy to broke. Adjust the valves periodicaly is the best way to know what’s happen in the engine valve train. Ben

Thanks for the explanation. I had my injectors/cups replaced in September. Was told that I may not be able to have another valve adjustment as the measurement is that close according to the mechanic. the #1,#2,#3 sealing surfaces were marginal and the #6th sealing surface had failed. Replaced them all. But they did say that the valves and and valve seat were in good condition. Thanks again for the explanation.

I forgot to check your head picture first, i'm familar with a failure like this. It's not a drop valve situation it's a broken valve situation.
A drop valve problem is when the valves keepers (locks) are no more at their proper position for different reasons and the valve fall into the cylinder.

Wear out situation on valve and seat i think.
