I recently bought me a 2010 Kenworth W900 with a SDP Cat C-15. Now before I put this truck on the road I want to delete all emissions crap, I have a shop that will do that for me, they are going to delete DPF and flash the ECM. So by doing that will the ARD head still be functional or not. And what else can I do to make this engine more reliable. This is my first CAT Engine so I have no experience with CATS, only had Cummins and Detroit. So basically take care of the costly major things before I get on the road so I am headache free. What do you guys think and what should I do from your experience all those CAT lovers out there.
We can't discuss the specifics of deleting on here unfortunately. The ARD head will probably get tossed. Its only purpose is to heat the exhaust gases enough to perform the regen. No DPF, no regen, no use for the ARD head.
Hypothetically leave the vva’s operational because of the high compression, leave all the paraphernalia in place . Block cgi pipe and unplug a couple of sensors..... But that’s only in theory........ M
Drop compression from 18:1 piston to a 16:1 piston with either a low compression kit from ipd or use cat 10r-7172 piston packs. delete vva. go to single turbo or keep the twins, depends on your preference. probably should have just avoided the SDP altogether, i wish i did!
