2010 maxforce 13 will not do passive regen.

    Temp light comes on when the exaust temp is above 800 degrees. Its there to let you know

    1. One the truck is in the middle of a regen
    2. Not to shut it off until the light goes OUT, otherwise the DPF filter can crack and then its junk.

    If you are seeing a temp light 80% of the time when you come to a stop the DPF is doing regens constantly. These trucks will NOT throw a dpf filter plugged code until the truck gets above 4.0 resistance which will leave the DPF in a constant state of regen until it gets the the point that it cant keep up and kills the truck.

    DPF have to be cleaned every 250k to keep them functioning correctly. If you have a had a EGR cooler go out, Turbo blow oil, Internal Coolent leak or the engine chugging oil all these will clog it quicker.

    On the subject of the DPF Per sensor, they are cheap to replace and easy to get to. I normally replace mine everytime the filter is shake and baked.

    Frankly, you need to get this hooked up to a computer and get it in regen mode. watch the temps they should have no issue climbing and should get up to around 1100. If its having a hard time climbing temp it could be a Dozer aka 7th Injector is dirty and needs replaced. If a dozer is bad dont bother cleaning it. It gets clogged internally which cleaning it only works for a short amount of time. These are normally replaced at the 500k mark.

    I would try to help more but without being there and plugging it into my laptop I cant give ya anymore specifics other then say I think ur DPF is clogged just by the looks of the turbo.

    They replaced what they called the 7th injector (doser), cleaned dpf and never got a straight answer if they replaced the DOC....they don't like to spend money on this leased unit. I have a piece of metal on the lower magnet of the clutch switch so I can start it. I am 6'3"/275 and I thought I was going to shove the seat out the back of the cab trying to trigger the clutch safety switch. They told me the troubleshooting says to replace clutch after they tried an updated clutch switch and replaced slave and master cylinders but since it's only showing 50% wear (Solo clutch) they refuse. As a former journeyman technician it's very hard for me to bite my tongue and not rip the Service Manager's ### for the poor service we receive considering what we pay monthly on this lease!

    DoC should be fine, those can take some abuse, the dpf and the dozer are the big items that screw up the chain. DoC should last a mil or so miles if it the treatment system is maintained.

    You can try the sensor then. See where it goes from there. Its eqsy as heck to get to and will take u about 15 min to change.

    Anybody know anything about SCR MAXXFORCE 13
    Dealer is offering me a 2013, said they don't have any cummins?

    The only Maxxforce I would recommend to try at this point is 15 or newer with the smaller EGR cooler. If the engine has the same looking EGR cooler as yours then I would pass. The newer ones have EGR coolers and valves that are basically from Cummins and just look way better in design. 13 Maxxforces are just pretty much the same as 10, but with SCR piggybacked on them.

    Haven't found anything on 2013 scr maxxforce. What would happen if i knocked a 6in hole through dpf filter?

    The ECM needs to see some differential pressure and it must fluctuate in relation to engine load and exhaust flow. With a hole through the middle of the DPF it will be become basically just an open pipe with no differential pressure at all. You would set a code for DPF missing condition exists, check engine light, and derate.
