That would look sharp, I like clean white trucks. 95% of my freight is flatbed, I have one drop and hook van lane I run once or twice a week, so no need for fairings. I've since added a headache rack as well. I'll be interested in seeing how the emissions system and truck in general hold up over the next few years.

Yea, I think it's just like anything else... if it's maintained...it will last.ReeferOhio Thanks this.

If any of you are ever near Missoula the dealer there, Transport Equipment, cleans DPF filters for under $400. I think one is $250 where they blow the stuff out of it and the other is $350 where they bake it out. But don't quote me on that. I think they have a location in Spokane also. I have dealt with missoula and they are good guys.
I believe 200k is the interval for cleaning the DPF filters. I know that this truck had absolutely no maintenance on the DFP system. It was a fleet truck to start and the guy that bought it didn't even know what an overhead was.
Just learning from driving that truck a few weeks, here is what I would do.
Every two years clean the DPF filter.
At that same time I will pick up spares of the #7 injector and the controller for that. The shop was surprised that the truck had the original controller. He stated that about 250k is what they normally get out of them.
At 500k I would replace the EGR valve and EGR cooler. They may not be bad at the time but it is just a matter of time. I would say within the next 100k your chances of having one or both go out is higher than average. Being proactive and scheduling the work instead of going in on a hook is always better.
SCR system itself runs around $4500 for the parts. Gotta keep some cash on hand for those things.Truckinman8824 and ReeferOhio Thank this. -
I been to missoula a couple of times to grab an air filter. Do have an idea on what makes the scr system to go out?

I've been thinking about getting the DPF baked here locally in Cincinnati. I've been quoted $500. I have no records of that ever being done before I purchased the truck. Same with the overhead, my fuel mileage hasn't been what I thought it would be averaging 5.8, was expecting mid 6's. So I've been considering getting the overhead run.

In my opinion, piss poor maintenance on this truck. It all starts back at the injectors, they can overfuel. The suspect bad cups in this truck because the radiator tank cracked. Then the EGR valve was leaking oil, this coated the inside of the EGR cooler making it less effective. EGR cooler leaking coolant. DPF not working correctly. The SCR system is the last thing in line so everything that is screwed up in front of it effects this system.
-
Yea, I get mid 7's-8 mpg... but you also run flatbed....
-
I'm hoping I got a little bit until the scr needs work.
-
That's no good, the way these trucks are built now one bad system affects another and down the line it goes.
-
I would think I'd be able to run those numbers. I run 65 with the cruise every where I go, I have the truck set at 73 if I want to pass or am in a hurry, which I never am. I am going to get the overhead run after the first of the year, I think that will help a lot.
