Hey there, got a line on this engine and know the history very well. Has it ever been done to swap into a Truck. C15 Acert MCW prefix, 595hp rating, single turbo industrial engine. Thoughts? Thx.

Most industrial engines are designed the work at a specific rated RPM constant. I would be questioning the torque curve thru the range of RPM an on highway truck operates. I fear you’re entering uncharted territory.

I wonder if it is mostly tuning, or a lot of different hard parts.

I have no experience with off-road. I’d bet money on the camshaft and the turbo for starters……maybe more. -

You'd be well advised the look up the serial number and compare hard parts to a bxs or mxs etc... like said before possibly different cam injectors turbo. I'd be the rotating assembly is the same

They all go to 2100. Its where in the RPM range that it actually makes its power that matters.
I don't know what specific application an MCW-prefix C15 is used in but it can affect its performance if its tuned for the wrong RPM. Take a genset for instance, its going to run all day long at 1800 RPM. That's where it'll be tuned to make peak power. -
Yes that is true they all go to 2100 rpms you are correct. This one was used on a Drilling Rig that was swapped out to C18. No specific rpm for long periods of time running the Drawworks. Anywhere from idle to wide open and anything in between. But I will look further into the sn# and hard parts on it.Oxbow Thanks this.

A buddy of mine swapped an industrial engine into his 2007 W900 that had an ACERT with a cracked block. He used a truck ecm on it and it never ran right. Kept overheating weird spuratic smoke. My mechanic diagnosed it that the drive gear on the cam had different teeth than a truck. Never threw a code but the ecm was confused AF! The cam position sensor was reading wrong whilst the rest of the sensors were telling the ECM correct information.
ETA: Truck has a C-16 in it now. -
