2013 CUMMINS ISX 15 check engine light with code spn 157 FMI18

I got a 2013 Peterbilt with a Cummins isx 15. For the last two weeks I've been getting a check engine light with code spn 157 FMI18 Fuel rail pressure, code reads fuel rail pressure valid but below average. Truck sat for two weeks over holidays and I replaced both fuel filters and the fuel rail pressure sensor. Didn't fix the problem so took the truck to an engine shop, they troubleshooted for 5 hrs and can't find the problem, said all fuel pressures check out and couldn't find the cause. Truck runs fine except loaded pulling large hills. Anybody have any ideas?

 

Fuel pump
Inspect immediately, known issue for isx especially those years. Ceramic parts inside break and get out through engine. Result is engine is toast. YouTube isx fuel pump ceramic or something similar.

 

I second that. We have one now that needs a new engine cause the fuel plunger went through the engine. If it’s red change it

 

Fuel pump. Well known problem children. Don’t be surprised if you notice it leaking when you look at it… I had to reseal over 100 of those when Navajo traded their Cummins powered trucks in.

Sometimes that pressure sensor at the end of the common rail craps out, but, IIRC, there’s a DTC specific to that.

 

Did you figure this out? My 13 Coronado is doing the same thing.

 

Hi guys i just want to let you know that i have spn 157 fail 0 and i replaced fuel pressure sensor filters and relief pressure valve and none of that fixed the problem but i went to a Volvo dealer and they recommend to use Bio Kleen from PS Power Service and that fixed the shaking and check engine light with code spn 157 fail 0. Thanks for this forum it was very helpful.

 

I have the problem same code and seems know the problem did out what the problem is?

 

I have 2015 isx15 ! Yesterday i had the engine derate sign and engine and emissions check light pops up for 2 seconds and then gone but emissions light is still on but no fault or warnings on dashboard! I hooked up my nexas tool to check ecm n it shows spn157 fmi18!trucks runs fine 0 issues! Kw t680 ! Im also due on oil change! Any help thnks

 

559 Fuel rail pressure below expected.

Most likely fuel filters are plugged. Service it, wype the codes and deal with it if it comes back.
