On my 2013 Maxxforce 11, I had active code SPN 5548-5 this morning-outside temp was 40 degrees. Couldn’t find the exact FMI but FMI 7 is cold start relay or low voltage/open somewhere. Once I drove a mile or so the active code is gone but the check engine light stays on with no active codes. Reset cluster by pulling the fuse. Would guess I have an electrical gremlin-any ideas on where to start?

Start at your coolant reservoir. A lot of times being below the sensor will throw a code and turn the light on, but once you warm up and the coolant expands or runs over the sensor, the code goes away.

Makes sense. The coolant level is good, I’ve kept a sharp eye on it since I replaced both EGR coolers a month ago. Stays full now.

The code status you see depends on the type of code reader you are using. International uses 4 different code states. There is "pending", "previously active", "healing" and "active." Once the code is no longer active it will change state to previously active or healing which some code readers cannot pick up.

Thanks Heavyd-I just used the instrument cluster for this info. Have a mechanic with the Navistar licensed scanner. Sounds like I should let him scan and see what it says
