Hi guys I have a 2013 maxxforce 13 prostar I just had the oil changed 2-3000 miles ago and the oil pressure while going down the road at 70mph(1500 rpm) is at 40-43psi at 220°. Is this normal? At idle it idles at 20 psi around 200°. It has 640k miles and I'm using rotella 15w-40 with one gallon of Lucas. Is it safe to drive at 40psi hot? Or should I have it checked out? I have a 2012 prostar with the same engine and it doesn't seem to run that low.

@Heavyd I know you get a million tags a day but if you have time to give me some insight it'd be awesome. Thank you in advance to you or anyone else who helps out!

20 at idle isn't bad when hot. I'd like to see the pressure more in the 50-60 psi range at 1500 rpm.

That sounds fine to me, mine idles at 20 or less when hot and runs about 40. I think as long as you got 30 working it will be fine. Some diesels are suppose to have only 40 psi max so it's not making more heat at higher psi. Also when my oil was changed one time the pressure dropped and it might have something to do with oil filters. The only way to know a job is done right is to do it yourself. When I changed it myself and did filters it seemed to improve.

I just did the fan conversion, and my truck also idles at 20 hot, which it has never done. I'm at 1400 rpms, and it's at 48ish psi. We also did the oil cooler , oil pump, and mains and rods. Maxxforce 13.
    Should I be worried. ?
Reason I did the conversion is because my fan bearing went out. Before conversion I've never been under 40 psi even at hot idle.

Oil cooler. There is no oil/coolant cross over in the egr system like that in the oil cooler.

    BiggDuke and Flint1 Thank this.
