I've gotten full clarification on which modifications are allowed, and which are not. I'm not so stupid as to change things without asking first.

look into the AVIC-9X0BT series of pioneer dvd/navigation units. (replace x with a number...the higher the number the newer the unit).

I have the Pioneer AVIC-930BT DVD/Navigation unit in my personal car and it's amazing!

    bluetooth phone function with mic
    bluetooth phone audio streaming
    am/fm/cd/mps
sd/sdhc slots for up to 32gb of music
hd radio capable (requires additional box)
    xm/sirius capable (requires additional box)
    traffic/rds updating (requires additional box)
    ipod cable
    full 50 state navigation
dvd playback (not while vehicle is moving though).
    remote
    Double DIN
it has also rca pre-outs so you can connect an external video monitor (ie in the back of your truck).

You mention needing a double DIN mounting plate to install the larger display radios, would you know where I can find one? My dealer can't find a part number and I want to replace the factory single DIN radio with a Kenwood double DIN full display unit I already own. Any help great;y appreciated.

Any car radio shop should have something that will be close.

Looking at the hole looks like remove current radio, remove brake handles, remove plate then remove old radio drive and lower cubby hole, install new radio sleeve that comes with Radio then cut apart harness and splice together. Then put every thing back together

I thought the same thing moosc, but once I removed the old radio and examined the mounting plate, removing the lower cubby hole is not that simple as it is a single piece moulded to the OEM plate. While I can likely cut it apart, I was hoping for a simpler option in the way of an OEM dual DIN plate from Freightliner, but unfortunately my dealer cannot find a part number for this.

Be careful with after market radios in the Cascadia. Was told the engine computer wiring runs through the factory radio. Couldn't believe it but I started getting all kinds of error messages right after having a JVC installed for XM/Sirius. Dealer said this was the 3rd Cascadia with wiring problems after installing a 3rd-party deck. Mine's a brand new 2016 with 900 miles and has been in the shop 3 times for this already. Depressing. Was told to buy the Freightliner deck w/XM and have the dealer install it to be sure it's done right. Anyone else experience this problem?

The issue with aftermarket radios fitted into a Cascadia is to do with the Canbus system used in the truck. The factory wiring does not have the capacity to run aftermarket radios due to the amps built into them. Simple easy solution is to install a permanent positive connection from the radio to the positive post inside the glove box on the right hand side of the SAM. This bypasses the Canbus main power supply to the radio but leaves the key on and other features. Doing it this way stops the Canbus reporting faults due to the radio pulling more power than the Canbus has been told to expect!

The engine computers don't run through the radio harness! This is total rubbish! The engine runs independent and sends information back and forward through the Canbus just like everything else connected to it (lights, horn, instruments)

Fitting a double din radio into a Cascadia is simply a matter of removing the lower storage tray with a dremel and fitting a double din radio! Make sure to run a separate main power lead from the positive on the SAM and jobs a good one!

Im about to do one myself so will post some pics next week

    lovesthedrive Thanks this.
