Hi guys. I drive a 2014 cascadia. It used to be a Ryder rental truck and now its a silage truck. When my boss handed me the keys i was happy, but then i find out that neither of my 12v power receptacles on the dash work and the radio intermittently shuts off and then turns back on. I checked the connections I checked the fuses everything seems as it should be. I replace the radio with. Boss audio head unit that has usb power. Now my phone charges and its bluetooth hands free. I didn't have to buy an adapter, the head unit just plugged directly into what I assume is the factory wiring. I can't tell for sure if it is factory wiring, because my boss will not let me take the dash off. Other trucks that my boss purchased have the same issue, which leads me to believe that is some sort of factory wiring issue. My first thought it was one of those bimetal resettable fuses. Its not. Regular fuses all through the fuse panel no resettable ones. I'm thinking maybe possibly there's a relay that is getting overheated or something and the contacts are opening but I can't say for sure because I'm not a mechanic. Any of you guys ran across this issue and were able to repair it? Any help would be awesome, thanks.
Had a couple of 14's with the same problem. Was a chassis to cab ground issue. Direct ground wire from the battery to the dash solved the problem.
Hey sorry i know this is old but did you run a ground directly from the battery to the ground on the radio?
