I guess what all this boils down too u just have to take a shot and hope for the best. There's good and bad in all. It's a shame having to spend that kind of money just for the trk that one can have so many problems.
xe packages come with something like a .86 top gear in transmission thats why rear end ratios are low 3's 2.64 is common on xe13 engine is programmed to run low rpm then drop into direct when pulling hard .least thats what ive read on them
Hate to say cause I'm a Pete and CAT man also but if I had to buy a new one I'd look hard at a mack also. I buy all my parts at a local Pete dealer and talk to the mechanics quite a bit and I still hear a lot of issues with both the Cummins and the paccar engines. With how tight the margins are nowadays the downtime can be a killer.
We have a 2013 cummins isx15 in our 2013 t660 its only been one year and we are already at 200k mi and that motor can haul ### and never seen mechanic yet so currently I think cummins is the most reliable engine, along the lines that we have had volvos and petes in our family.
I just wonder if one can call today engines Mil mile engines with everything the EPA says they so desperately need.
