    We have a ih 7500 with a fault code spn 520857. Where's the first place to start looking for this repair and what's the recommended repair for this code?

    Body controller code for switch pack #2, switch #6, unexpected switch or unexpected switch position. Very minor problem. The body controller is detecting a switch in that cavity it is not programmed for. Is this an active code?

    Yes it's an active code, and has the engine light on as well. The truck was a utility truck and has been stripped down to just a cab and chassis.

    The switch pack has the switches installed 2 for every switch. It seems to be a common practice to pop the cover out of an unused switch position and drill a hole in it and install a toggle switch in the cover, then feed the wires out of the plastic housing. Doing this will sometimes press on one of the little switch pack buttons causing the code you have. Doesn't hurt anything though.
    You can only access body module fault information using the cruise switches. You will need to have the engine scanned to find out why the engine light is on.
