I been told totally opposite by other Brand Dealerships. Their all saying no one buying trucks period and it cost them 1K per truck to have on lots. I did find out Volvo not making trucks now and getting ready to switch to new 2015 to be out end April '14. Ive called 3 closest to me and still no one cares. Guess they made enough money for year. LOL I'm confused and totally lost on Volvo the way their treating people. Maybe their snobs and know they have a GREAT truck . LOL

13 speed is now an option on Volvo. All truck's coming from factory are supposedly ishift. Which I've owned for 4 years and will not go back to a stick shift. It's made me lazy.

I own a Volvo 780 2008, D13 Eaton 13 manual; my dash now shows 1,214,665 miles original motor and transmission; still puling.great 8-8 mpg, my last truck was a vovo 770 automatic 2001, I had problems with trany, this one just oil; I know I shift is good but still from OO point I prefer reliability vs comfort: a buddy of mine blew an I shift in Denver few weeks ago, they asked 20,000$ for a new reman I shift.

I don't know if you can get a 780 with a 227 WB if I were spec's a 780 for pulling a reefer. Coast to Coast say Florida to Southern Cal
    D13
    i Shift
your rear end ratio will be a tad bit on the taller side due to the 12 speed trans
    WB 255ish
    Dual 150g tanks
Full Fairings. I'd make sure my trailer had them as well
    You'll get the "office package"

Volvo doesn't offer enough for me to want to order one from them

Thanks. I have found One in your neck of the woods and one in Washington State. Their new and all listed on Truck Paper . Com . Now Tell me why a 227 WB ? So it be closer to areo tractor for wind resistance? What's the advantage between them both? Please explain cause I'm naive on this stuff.

Explain the differences and advantages of WB's You say 227 WB for pulling reefer right? That so their closer for areo or there another reason? Weight difference compared say a 255ish? Gear ratio you recommend?

We had 1 I-Shift in our fleet and it was an 09. The driver loved and even turned down a 2011 when it came out because it was a manual. We never had a bit of problem out of that truck and then one day BOOM. The tranny came apart. The cheapest trans the shop could find was reman and was $19,000. We just purchased 20 more I-shifts to replace some of our aging trucks. I said that to say this. The truck I drive is a 2009 volvo with the ISX cummins and a 10 speed with 692,000 miles. I'm still on the original clutch and for as long as I was a mechanic in our shop and since I've been driving, I haven't seen any of our manual trannys just come apart or even tear up. The most we have EVER had to do with our manuals is replace the clutch. Now, would you rather take the chance on the I-shift and hope that nothing ever happens so you don't have to drop $20,000 to replace the tranny or would you rather deal with having to shift and spend at the most $2,000 to replace a clutch every so often? I think I would go with the manual. I've driven our I-shifts but it's just not for me. My dad drives one of our 2013 I-shifts and he loves it but hes also been driving for 31 years and said "Any day I don't have to shift is a good day" and all of our old-times love the I-shift.

FWIW, stay away from the push-button auto they had in the volvos. I can't recall the type of transmission it was at the moment but it has buttons on the driver seat instead of the shifter. We had about 30 of those. They constantly lock up in gear and you have to get out and take the battery terminals off and put them back on to reset the trans ECU so that you can get it in neutral to crank the truck. If I had all the money we spent replacing XY shifters and harnesses I'd be rich. Thats why we only have 5 more left and they are about to be on the "For Sale" line.
