Flame suit on. I'm a new owner operator about to buy a 2015 780, I think. I have two on hold at a dealer far from me. I'll be at the dealer on Monday morning. I have been able to look at several trucks from the same fleet and am impressed with how clean and well maintained they are. I didn't drive one of these specific trucks yet but drove a 2016 I-shift and loved it.
So, moving on, from reading here I'm pretty paranoid about the injectors/cups. Most trucks from this fleet are getting traded in at 500-600k. I plan to do a rigdig and talk to the local Volvo shop about these specific trucks as soon as I get the VINs from the dealer. I have pics of the vins but they are a little blurry and I want to be sure of them, so I'll report back after that.
What else should I be looking for? I know about long starts suggesting issues with injectors, etc. I'll be getting history on the emissions system for sure. I know the warranty is close to gone or gone except for the tranny up to 750k.
Thanks Volvo fans
2015 500k what to look for?

HELP!!! '13 Volvo D13 shakes & power loss at 1,600 RPM
Some useful information on here.
Just do your due diligence and make an unbiased decision based on what works best for your business.
Get any and all maintenance records
Dyno the truck
Check it over with a fine tooth comb, consider taking it to a reputable shop within a reasonable distance
Take a proper test drive with it to get everything up to temperatureOxbow Thanks this. -
Doing a rig dig report was a good start. Find an ASE certified mechanic or shop in the area, and have them look it over, as well as getting a dyno done. Get a cup of "joe" and sit down with the maintenance history of both trucks. See if Volvo will put a Volvo extended warranty on the motor. Be willing to walk away from both if something does not feel right. They're a 1,000 more like them for sale. Good luck!

Start with getting oilsamples analysed.
Any issues will show in the report. -
I'm sure I've read this but can't remember. How often should I have the DPF/EGR serviced and what should it cost me?

150,000 miles or 18 months. Volvo in Phoenix was $1600ish. Done, back on the road two days start to finish.
Change the DEF filter now. Do not pass go. It's changed every 250K.
Don't F with the sensors. They are a case of if it's not broke, don't fix it, when one goes bad, replace it.
Volvo in Phoenix is number 1 in the nation.
They all aren't created equal. -
Thanks very much Dave. I definitely plan to negotiate the emissions system fixes in to the deal if they aren't done already. I'm waiting on that info now. Good news is I'm buying a truck hopefully on Monday but can't pick it up for 2 weeks after (we'll be on a family vacation) so this gives them plenty of time to address this stuff. It is at a dealer, Southwest Volvo in El Paso. They seem to be solid but I would love a little feedback if anyone has any. It's not too late for me to bail if these aren't good trucks, certainly not a done deal.
