Guys remember the cups support the injector... When it struggles to push that 35,000 psi injection event it creates a ton of resistance when the cam is pushing down on the injector plunger and body. Increased deflection of the injector then puts stress directly into the cup.......... The account of support the cup gives is easily exceeded when anything isn't 100% .... Then you have a leak. Do yourself a favor and clean the injectors as part of your regular PM and upgrade your prefilter/davco filter if you have one. I run the 7um prefilter and oem Volvo on the motor. I wish i could find something better than Volvo for the motor, it's only 5um ... Wish i could get a 3um to spin on!
Since you run 7um prefilter. Have you notice any change in performance ? Or fuell millage? How often you have to change prefilter?
I dose mine every oil pm at least with injector cleaner concentrate. I usually use the Amsoil injector cleaner contrate and mix full strength plus some. Usually a 64oz in each tank. That stuff is crazy Strong ... They originally had a recall because it was eating the bottle lids adhesives it's so strong.. had to change lids.. . Lol The 7um prefilter gets changed about every 10k miles. They're inexpensive to change, i carry a jug for the fuel and a Davco wrench..
Three ways either cup deforms and lets compression in fuel system as it diesnt seal inj as well. Second cup doesn't seal properly to the head creating pressure in cooling system and third cup has a hole and put fuel in coolant. Three very common with d12 at high miles only first one with d 13 but very often
I know that Volvo's running without a DPF still have the same cups problem. So the DPF cannot be the cause.
