Wow there was just another guy on here saying he was in his second engine truck got repoed cause the second one went up Volvo would not replace
Well I smell exhaust coming through my heater vents every now and then. I put nearly a gallon of coolant in it today. Friday I had been coming up a hill in NV with a light load, and at the top of the hill, the water temp had gotten to 195, which is in the middle, when it normally stays around 170. Then the STOP engine light, the red one, came on for like 3 seconds then disappeared when I crested the hill. That's how I found out it was low on coolant. I have a couple of fault codes, p24A000 and a p249F00 I'm pretty sure is related to trying to Regen with too low or high engine temps. I rarely idle more than 5-10 mins. My Webasto bunk heater keeps me warm. Today I ran my Webasto engine heater for a bit with the hood down to check for coolant leaks and could not find any, but I did notice that the fuel line coming out of the Webasto unit was unattached, I'm assuming it was the return fuel line. I just reattached it. I'm trying to.figure out how to tell if there's fuel in my coolant.
Usually the symptoms would be losing prime/longer crank time and the RPM flutter. Loss of power and bad fuel economy. The cooling systems getting pressurized and pushing coolant from the driver side overflow. Only losing coolant would point to either EGR cooler or Air compressor head gasket. Drain your air tanks and see if you got coolant in there. Might eliminate the air comp. You can check your EGR cooler by removing the orange hose by the cooler and shine some light inside of the cooler. Look for moisture or what looks like carbon balls. (sounds funny but best way to describe) If those check out then cups are the next thing to check.
They blamed the copper cups and redesigned the stainless 2 times. But we are doing cups regularly. Just a bandaid fix.
Need advice on a 2007 D13 sputtering on uphill pulls. The DPF systems is completely new, new style conical injectors are in the engine. A new EGR valve was installed not long ago. The fuel is kinda dark at the fuel/water separator so I’m thinking maybe fuel lines are possibly deteriorating and restricting flow. Otherwise, I’m lost at what else to check. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thx!
well my question is it can't be a 07 maybe 08 second thing any codes coming up, is it starting easy is there any compression present in the fuel. did anyone take the turbo actuator off and check to see how the sweep is for the turbo assy.
Well I was thinking of buying a 2015 or newer volvo with d13/ishift thinking they had the issues fixed apparently they must NOT have the injector issues fixed yet. Back to the drawing board..............Are there other issues as well? On a side note anyone know of a good shop to overhaul my D12 engine reasonably? Most quotes I am getting from the dealers for a level 3 are $30 - 34k.....hard pill to swallow.
