Anyone here have 1? Opinions on it?

I’ve always been a freightliner/Detroit guy but, I’ve been looking at 2016 W900 with 392k miles. It has an ISX15 Cummins 450 13 speed. It would be my first emissions truck so I’d have to learn all that lingo.

Anyone have any major issues with comparable year trucks? I read something about a fuel filter issue that may be a recall or something. Other than that hadn’t heard much...

A davco filter usually solves the fuel filter issue......

When I think of Cummins I think of the engines that were in Internationals(was is Paccar MX) in like 2009 -2011 that seemed to be horrible and have all the lawsuits etc.... Thats the only background I know of on Cummins well, besides the N-14.

Id like to know the reliability of them. I would think like after 2015 the emission issues are a lot better than they were 2009-2014/15. I search here for threads but not having much luck.

That should be the latest edition of the ISX with the extra piston ring that cured the carbon packing issue.

Fuel pump issue is also ancient history for that engine.

    I'd still want an APU.

No APU you would be setting yourself up for after treatment issues.

Paccar never installed an engine in an International truck. Your Confusing The Maxforce engine with a Paccar MX engine. They are not the same.

I never idle now without an APU.... I do have a bunk heater so that helps during the winter. Ive looked into an APU and I don't think its worth the cost for me.

Also I read about fuel pump issues.....? About ceramic plungers and fuel pump taking out the whole engine?....

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Yup! They had a couple updates on the pump but I still won't buy another Cummins because the last campaign they only paid parts, labor was on you for fixing their piss poor design. The isx also has a throw away cylinder head after 500k miles. On the plus side you can find alternative sources for the engine software so that you can do some work yourself

    D.Tibbitt and nikmirbre Thank this.
