Only to have our check engine light come back on. Stopped in at a T A and they said the volts we only 2 should be 5 but they don’t mess with any wiring so we took to apeterbilt here in Ohio and they said they fixed out volt problem but not they are wanting to check our actuator in the turbo to make sure it’s not running hot or something likethat. This shop had our truck in the bay on Monday but took the truck out of bay to ask if they could check this on our turbo and we are sitting in hotel room the last 4 days. We are seriously just thinking about going to get the truck and deliver our load. Please advise on what you think we should do. The problem is we heading to New York Stateand don’t want to get up there with some sort of problem and the cost be higher. Butwe know the initial problem is fixed and feel like maybe our turbo would be ok for atleast this trip.

Our check engine light came on and was throwing the code 102 so we changed the map sensor. The sensor we took out was corroded was filthy black probably had never been changed. So we changed the sensor went to loves and had them clear the code. Drove approximately 300 miles and we had another check engine light on. Same warning 102 that’s when we went to the TA. We explained to TA that we just changed the part and wasn’t sure why we throwing this code again. So he checked the wiring with a volt meter and said 1 of the volts was showing a 2 when it should be showing a 5 so that’s when we took it to peterbilt.

Peterbilt says they have cleared the code and fixed the voltage problem. They are going to look at the turbo actuator but instead of calling us (because we’ve been at the hotel the last 3 days) they pull our truck out of shop and then call us to ask if they can check actuator and put our truck back into the wait line. This is what is causing our frustration. We don’t want to get down the road in New York and it actually be something with our turbo actuator causing this code because we don’t want to derate. Not sure if this will derate us but guy at TA said if truck can’t do Regin than it will. Anyways I’m not sure this is making sense or if I’m just rambling but feeling very frustrated and feel like our truck is hostage situation. But who the heck knows. I guess they will look at turbo crap today and maybe we roll tomorrow.

How do we gp from imap sensor to turbo actuator? What is your manifold pressure gauge(boost) reading? That is what the imap sensor reads. What is the exact codes you are getting? Cummins or paccar?

Does it have an spn number and an fmi number?... Spn 102 is for low voltage on the intake manifold pressure sensor. If they fixed the voltage that code should be cleared.. Why are they looking at the turbo?

Ok that was our question and that what we were thinking. They say they have fixed the low voltage but they were wondering if the actuator was the culprit for causing the low voltage I guess the actuator is in the turbo but we’ve decided we are going to go pick up or truck and go for it. We are 7 hrs away from delivery and I guess we either going to make it or were not. According to them they have fixed the spn102 code and the voltage.

So we picked up our truck from peterbilt (if you can call this location a peterbilt, poorest ran shop ever) they replaced the barometric sensor. When we started our truck we still had a check engine light on. So I go back inside and they said they would not clear the check engine light for me because it would just come on again. So at that time I asked to talk to manager. I explained to him customer satisfaction and told him I’m not satisfied with us thinking the guy cleared the check engine light anyways after a little bit of me talking he says they will clear light for us but if we pulled out of lot and it comes on again that’s our problem. Anyways we’ve been driving for about 3 hrs and our check engine light still hasn’t came back on. So I’m guessing we made the right decision to rescue our truck and get the hell away from there.

I hate to talk bad about someone but honestly if ever in Columbus oh grove city avoid that peterbilt location. The lady at the service desk says they cannot keep technicians and almost all of the mechanics are new. We sure didn’t want that location to do anything with our turbo. We actually have a peterbilt location in Indiana that we’ve established a relationship with so hopefully this barometric sensor keeps us running until we get back home.
