I have to ask this ... does it really matter?

I have five trucks that does this exact thing and I asked the drivers who put in a repair request is the same question.

The dealer who worked on two trucks said it is possessed.

    Ok, sorry for the delay.
You have a software issue created by Kenworth when they installed an update that had a bug.

I had the same issue with my truck. I bought it new and the display worked fine. After they did an update, the readings went crazy like yours.

I could only get them to work right just as you did. Problem was recreated every time I shut the truck off.

It only took Kenworth 6 months to fix the problem with a new update.
I did notice once they updated it I would lose my trip information when I shut the truck off. But at least it would read correctly without jumping all over.

So to answer your question, you will need to take it to Kenworth and have them do an update. Tell them your issue so they know which updates you need.

By the way, my issue was over 3 years ago. I no longer have the truck.

Yeah, I know and thanks for bringing that to my attention.. I usually edit those too but I left it this time so people could see what the bad information was. It helps the continuity of the thread.

I don't have any way to capture that qoute. So It's out of my hands.

I consider that particular gaffe closed anyway. It's over with. We all know the correct progressive shifting process and Ive been officially corrected by several people here and else where. No worries. Just a little rust broken off.

Now if he'd admit the same thing for those ridiculous stories of 140 mph trucks!

Its a paccar thing .. my 2015 t680 and 2019 Pete 579 both have /had that issue.. what you can do is go to trip summary in one of the trip meters and it will show the long term mpg average on the trip..
