Thank you everyone so far for all your input. I started driving the truck in August, first couple loads were from El Paso to Seattle with a stop in Portland and Everett, WA. Truck was great getting 7+ mpg average 68mph. Past 2 months it's gone down hill. Oil consumption is ridiculous, def has increased to almost one def tank to two fills. We've taken it to the dealer 3 times in 2 months to spend 1500+ and get little to nothing out of it. So we've determined that buying new would be best with warranty. We're waiting till just before the chain law runs out and then it's back to Seattle. I've been reading up on the new x15 motor backed with an 18spd with mid3 rears is a decent mpg getter. Roughly .5-1 mpg all together better then what we get now. So I'm looking out for the boss but I also don't want a cascadia if I can avoid it.
01 international mid roof with 450 hp ISX, 10 spd, 3.73 with 22.5 tall rubber, pulling flat in the Midwest. 2 years hand calculated at 6.55 mpg run about 65 when I can. 70 when I'm in a hurry.

I dont operate on thin margins. Hurst
Thank you Hurst. We aren't looking to break records or anything. I'm sort of looking out for the boss man but I'm not a fan of the bubble nosed Cali plastic trucks of today. I'm actually more partial to Western star but they offer the dd15, which I've had nothing but problems with. The new w9's look really nice. Not a fan of the fuel door idea with the tank setup on some of them I've seen. I'm looking for something that will get close or better then where we are now. Once this e log crap stars we'll be slowing down a little but not much. Maybe average 68-72mph loads. What kind of rates are you averaging currently for your steps?
So, using Hurst logic, anyone focusing on fuel economy must be operating on thin margins? I know I don't operate on thin margins and I love that extra fuel savings I keep in my pocket.
Not thin margins at all really. I see every rate he books my truck for. Even with the current mpg he's still making more off my truck then the automatic Volvo our other driver is in. We're getting rid of that thing for sure.
Taking things out of context as usual. I have generators in both my trucks so they do not have to idle. If I didnt care about fuel mileage I would run 75 - 80 mph. On average I save $10,000 - $12,000 annually by watching my fuel. My comment was for me,. .and about me. Not about you and your operation. I have many,.. many posts on here as a strong advocate for saving money by saving fuel. Did I hurt your feelings? Need a tissue? Hurst
That brings me to a new subject question. What kind of generator pack are you using Hurst? I'd like to keep the idle down as much as possible. I know apus got the pros and cons and most the time the con is when it breaks no one has the part or can fix it in a timely matter. In fact got an apu on the truck now, that's been broke for a month. Haven't had the time to get it fixed yet. I've done some very brief reading on generator vs apu. Got any info you could share on that would be great. Thanks again
