lack of equipment if the biggest issue. We're constantly having bookings for grain exports roll because there are not enough containers for certain steamship lines.

It's the same problem every year, I did grain for 5 months in 15, cans were short then also.

This year is far worse, 75% of our business is grain, I can't recall the last week where I did more than 50 hrs

I would think with Hanjin going BK, other companies would buy their old cans.

I've got a friend who's at evergreen that says the stream ship lines have been desperate to get rates up for years. Maybe the capacity crunch will get rates up.

APL is apparently the cheapest lately, followed by COSCO. For bulk grain, we need borderline food grade, which of course no one wants to pay the extra cost for a box to be cleaned for food grade, so we have to do the best we can. Perfect example, company sent me and another driver to get 3 COSCO boxes for bulk grain, we had to go through 9 boxes to get 3, and even then, 1 was marginal. Next day, someone else went and picked up two more, one of which was a box we rejected the day prior, customer almost rejected the box........a 3 hr run each way.

Another problem we have in our area, one of our biggest yards recently sold out to a competitor, the asinine policies of the competitor make it very difficult to get boxes. If you need two boxes, you can look at 4, if you need one box, you can look at 2. Makes it very difficult sometimes.
