I can't do much over the internet. AC is 100% computer controlled in these. You need someone with access to International DLB software to watch the signals which watching the pressures to see what is happening. If it turns warm, but water still drains, I agree it is freezing up. There is a signal the body controller will get from the freeze probe. In DLB you need to look for this signal - HVAC_Freeze_Protect_HZN. It should be the same as ambient when the system is not running. When running it will signal the body controller to cut power to the compressor at anything lower in temp than 43 degrees F. When these sensors are shorted, they read about 140 degrees all the time and never change.

Sorry for the late reply. Been driving in chicago and it feels like every moron here is out to cause a wreck for lulz heh....
Anyway no recycle switch @North Pole Nightmare , and thanks for the tip on the international software, ill add it to my guidanz and look at it after my bank pulls my truck payment in a couple days. That said im unsure if it would be that. I just looked at my stack of bills and it does list a temp probe was replaced at the same time as the CECU. But ill check it again when i have the software. Worst case maybe i can flash the body computers and see if i can un#### the system @Heavyd. I can also likely can pull screens of the data it gives me too and see if it pops up anything stupid and see if you can give advice on fixing it.Heavyd Thanks this. -
So going to be a hot minute on getting the software. Just ruined a steer tire and decided to do both and 4 drives that were about done and then had to do wheel seals on 3 wheels and had them do all 4 lol....that was an ouchy but at least i caught the leak early. That said i did have them hook up and check. They said everything is reading within spec and fluctuateing properly even after 45 mins of idleing. Of course i get in the truck and the AC cuts instantly as soon as i moved for about 3 minutes....so we hooked it back up. Everything reading correctly. Flashed the all the body computers and even ECM because why the hell not. Still reading correctly. I have it scheduled to go into the dealer for labor day and im just going to leave it there and make them deep dive it.
And sorry for the delay i dont touch my main accounts when my major monthly payments are pending. Had a situation a few years back where a company put a $5000 hold (yes 5k...) for 28 days over a $50 part. Ended up paying almost 3k in late fees by the time it was said and done. So now i dont touch that account for a week before or after my bills to be sure ;pHeavyd Thanks this. -
Insanity with #6 for Labor Day. "5 diffrent dealers 3 road side shops and a specialist cant figure it out." "I have it scheduled to go into the dealer for labor day"
I would call International Corporate first and tell them the history. Ask them what they can do to help. Someone is going to have to record data and see what changes/happens when it stops blowing cold. For example and I realize you don't have any codes when this happens: with Eaton autoshift you can get a snapshot of data before and after a code sets, download the file and send it off to them to diagnose. One of their service bulletins states to not just update the software. You first delete it, install the old version and then update it.Arctic_fox Thanks this. -
Yea, part of the problem is ive been out for 12ish weeks so my "home" dealer in sioux falls who i trust hasnt had it. So its a bunch of rando morons who apparently dont know anything about AC trying to fix it.
Part of it also is most people who work on it comment they have never even SEEN a lonestar before. The one in sioix falls has a dozen of us locals who own them and is pretty experinced. I will tell you after this fiasco im buying the machines and tooling to do this myself. Only reason i havent is to be frank on my last truck if it had an AC issue it was 1 and done. This is insane which is odd because EVERYTHING else so far has been fairly simple.to fix myself or if i cant is easy to puzzle out.
Doesnt help my ISX is one of the weird ones with a sump so is laid out a little diffrent.JB7 Thanks this. -
Another recent example similar to yours. Owner had a late model Volvo with a problem that no one could fix. At one point someone got the Region involved and they knew right away what to do, replace a harness. Harness was replaced which fixed the problem. Region or corp is over numerous dealerships and it is highly likely that someone else has had your issue before. Or they have access to people, like the ones who designed the system, that understand it better than any tech ever could.
Will be interesting to see what your home dealer comes up with, if anything. -
Welp we found the issue. No wonder everyone missed it. We had to take apart the entire dash, remove the fuse box and a good chunk of wireing and get it down to the firewall to figure it out.
The actuators were reporting good but were physically broken. The plastic cracked so the doors would move but only a bit hence why i would get air from the various vents. But the spindle hadnt fully detached so thought it was moving correctly and reporting green. Even the tech was flumuxed lol. But we got parts ordered, sadly they dont make the part i have anymore so they gotta order a conversion kit.....and there are none in north america so it will be october it gets fixed since the parts on a 3 week back order. But they were able to super glue it so it works a little bit at least and i have a defroster again and some heat and cooling, not much but i also wont cook to death or freeze to death.
Not perfect but its a start. Also its a good thing i took it in, it was throwing codes and about to throw a check engine. Turns out my def filter was improperly installed when i had it changed and had crystaled up for lack of a better term, and i also had some electrical shorts that were causeing issues that they fixed. They also said i had a few plastic airline fittings in the dash that were letting go that they swapped out for brass. -
Glad to hear! Thanks for reporting back!
