I owned a 2003 Peterbilt with C15 6nz. Before accert egr, etc. I was running coast to coast. Hauling wine back to the southeast. 62 mph. No idle time. It was winter. 43k loads east. I was getting 6.5 mpg consistently. I kept the rpm no more than 1500 . My rpm in top gear was about 1300 at 60 mph. Fuel was about $4.20/gallon in late 2012. A lot of wind and hills and maybe a big gap between cab and trailer with your rig. Slow speed and easy on the throttle is worth a try if you have the time. Find out what the most efficient rpm is for the engine you have.
