They will remain steady until mid year and then we will see a change. IT will take this long for Trump's changes to take an effect. Until that time, we may see some increases in rates and costs at the same time to adjust to these new things.

I also see a possible change in how regulations will happen, but that may not come until the latter part of the year. I would love to see Trump tell congress that they have to return to their job of oversight on regulations and these agencies like the US DOT and epa.

On the demand side, I expect the economy to continue increasing, which should tick demand for freight up some.

On the supply side, I expect the rate of wage increases that started in the last two years to quickly accellerate. This should draw drivers out of the industry, and it should continue increasing wages in the industry. That should suppress the supply of trucks.

Both trends should lead to higher rates.

    If Congress would prohibit:
    1. All sales via internet - everything needs to go back to retail sales (no Amazons)
    2. All research with driverless trucking and ban Ottos from the roads
    3. Lack of transparency with brokered freight.
    4. Uberization of freight.
    5. Double/triple brokering
    6. Intermodal transport
    7. Transport companies of more than 200 trucks
Would the rates not become better?
I don't know! But I ask only rhetorically.

If you can make as much money, benefits and vacation and tuck your kids in at night, would you do it?

    Many would.

Maybe we both just agree to splitting the prize money between the two of us then it won't really matter which one of us is actually right.
